History
The origin of Alcopa goes back in 1937, and since then, the company has gone through multiple evolutions and transformations.

Albert Moorkens founds a company producing and distributing motorbikes.
1937

Moorkens Firm imports BMW and opens a car assembly plant in Kontich.
1958

The company imports and distributes the Suzuki brand.
1960

Contract with BMW terminated and start of Mitsubishi import.
1974

The group becomes the first European importer of a Korean brand, Hyundai.
1978

Following the sudden death of the founder, his 6 children create Alcopa Holding.
1981

Takeover of the company Buro Market and creation of the office furniture division.
1985

Development of international activities (Switzerland, Portugal, France and South Africa).
1994

Takeover of a major part of the Renault-Vilvoorde premises and rehabilitation of the site.
1996

Setting up of a structured governance and appointment to the Board of Independent Directors.
1997

Creation of Alcadis which centralizes 4-wheel activities and takeover of the import of Hyundai in Switzerland.
2002

Creation of AlcopaimmO which centralizes the various property activities of the group
2007

Takeover of Brevidex and creation of the group EOL, holding company of the office furniture division.
2008

Creation of Moteo which regroups and develops the 2-wheel activity in Europe and in Africa.
2008

Setting up of a family shareholding governance and creation of its Board chaired by Dominique Moorkens.
